Project

 

As part of the project for the re-planning of Brest’s Capucins quarter, the town decided to link the plateau des Capucins with the central Siam Quarter. The solution: a cable-car that would cross the Penfeld river and the military naval base at the docks.

 

The cable-car comprises 2 coaches in a two-way movement principle that cross at the centre of the journey.

 

This solution was proposed by the cable-car company BMF. The two stations are comprised of a single track with a platform on each side: arrival and departure. The impact is therefore residual.

Retaining wall

The Siam station of the cable car is located at the top of a 21.50m high masonry retaining wall made in the after-war.

 

The base of this wall is at the level of the docks of the naval base. The wall retains the Boulevards des Français libres and Jean Moulin. A reinfoced concrete foundation beam at the top of the wall serves as connexion between the cable car cables and the prestressed wires anchored in the rock ensuring the anchorage of the tensile stresses.
